It's the economy, you smart people.
The October issue is alive and online: Deb's Monthly Review. You can find some great festivals to attend, plus there are listings of other US events. There are fancier sites out there with claims of comprehensive information. Many of them operate from a database. Many of them charge you for a membership to view more than a small portion of their information. I'm a bit more focused on providing people with options for travel (and for local fun). And I love pointing out the great features of the cities and towns across the America, where our cultures local history present a rich opportunity to enjoy celebrating food, music, art, folklore, tradition, working men and women and the cutting edge of science. Festival celebrations touch all these areas of American life, and more.
This is probably the closest to ad copy I've ever written on this blog. But I believe in what I've been doing and I hope you'll check out the festivals and then go have some cotton candy or a caramel apple, see what the crafters are making these days and maybe sway to the music of the bands. And here's something else to consider. Your presence at festivals could be just as important to the economic climate as a bank bailout or a home foreclosure. And a lot more fun for you.
